A review is only worth something if it's honest. Here are the rules and tools that are there to make sure of that.
Criticism stays
Negative reviews are just as important as positive ones. Companies can't get criticism removed because they disagree. They can reply publicly, so you can see both sides. A review is only removed if it breaks the guidelines for reviewers, and the reviewer always gets a reason and the chance to appeal.
Payment changes nothing
No company can pay for a better SaysScore, a better position or the removal of a review. On the profile you can see whether the company pays TrustSays for tools.
We check every review
Every new review is checked before it becomes public. It usually takes a few minutes. Among other things, we look for:
- many reviews from the same device or network
- accounts that only review one company
- unusually many 5-star reviews in a short time
- texts that resemble each other
- connections between reviewer and company
If we find fake reviews, they're removed, and the account may be closed. The company may get a public warning, which is shown on the profile and in lists. Read more under Fake reviews.
Labels tell you where the review comes from
Each review shows whether the customer found the company themselves, was invited, or whether the purchase has been confirmed. See What do the labels mean?.
Rules for companies
Companies may not give money, gifts or discounts for reviews, review themselves or competitors, or pressure customers to change a review. If they send invitations, they must go to all customers in a period. See the guidelines for businesses.
If you see something suspicious
Use Report misuse if you've seen bought reviews, fake profiles or pressure from a company. The figures for removed reviews are in the trust report.
